An energetic BoD must avoid friction

Also, ASCIT is often the first contact for faculty or administrators when they notice a problem developing. If ASCIT handles these problems when they first arise, they will not become the disasters that have taken up much of the IHC’s time in the past. The IHC’s time is best spent when it is focusing on matters involving the House system, rather than dealing with problems that arise when ASCIT does not operate as a group.

That’s really the definition of an active ASCIT. Can they, like almost every IHC, work as a group to accomplish tasks? ASCIT will always have a few good BoD members, but rarely will the BoD work together cohesively to set and achieve goals during their year. It is a feature that makes the IHC the group to go to if you need something done, and it has been rarely present among ASCIT.

That’s why the ASCIT retreat this past weekend is a milestone that indicates we could see something really different this year, and I’m cautiously hopeful that this year’s BoD will do some really great things for us.
